Swimming with daddy

Normally your mum takes you swimming on a Friday but as it was school holidays I got to take you swimming instead. We arrived nice and early and were able to watch all the other babies in the pool. It looked like you were pretty excited.  Your Granny even turned up to see you in the water which was a surprise.
The instructor lady got us in the water and moving you around in lots of different directions. This was to get you used to the feel of the water moving past you. Then she gave us a cup that had holes in it. We had to sign a 'tickle rain' song and put the water over your head. You are really good at this because we put your head under the water all the time in the shower.

The instructor was so pleased with your progress that she said we could dunk you if I was happy to. Your Daddy being a caring person was more than happy to have the instructor put you under the water.

We counted 1 - 2 - 3 and she put you deep under the water. You knew to hold your breath and when you came up you had a big smile on your face. There were some babies that didn't really enjoy it but you loved it.  I was so pleased with how you did that I dunked you two more times during the lesson.

You are a really good swimmer already and your mum and dad are so proud of you. The only time that you cried was when we pulled you out of the water.

Poppa & Daddy run the Rotorua 50th marathon

Last year your Poppa turned 50, half way to 100, starting down the slippery slope.. Your father and him were talking about their bucket lists and doing a marathon is on Poppa's. Now it probably is important to know at this point that your Poppa doesn't run but does enjoy a good walk or stroll. So him talking about a marathon was a bit of "oh yeah believe it when I see it!"

6 months later and....

poppa has lost about 20kgs and now says a short run is 8km...crazy man! Well tick for the bucket list and he can now die happy - and leave us the car in his will! =)

This is your daddies 3rd half marathon and his bucket list is to complete the rotorua 100th marathon in another 50years.

WE ARE SUPER PROUD OF WHAT YOUR POPPA AND DADDY DID TODAY! well done boys, you did great!

We have had a great weekend staying in Rotorua. Your grandparents can't get enough of you, even when your being a brat and not staying asleep for your 2hour lunch nap.
Itwas your first time in a motel and you enjoyed yourself... The poor neighbours having you cry every 2 hours over night and mummy and daddy getting hardly any sleep.

It had a lovely spa bathwhich we all relaxed in after the run.
Back home and you have crashed out in your cot, fingers crossed for a good night. Your father has gone to rugby game- go the chiefs!!! He will be very sore in the morning.

Camping adventures

Well little lady you are now.....um....3 and a bit months and you have had your second camping adventure. This Anzac weekend we headed to Little Waipa doc camp ground along the Waikato river.
It was a quick decision to go as it had been raining cats and dogs all Easter weekend and the following week. I was all set to say that this camping trip wasn't going to happen but you father was too excited about the prospect of setting up his new camping kitchen and new tent that not matter how hard the rain fell or how fast the wind blew we were going.
You slept in your portacot and we kept you warm with oodles of fuzzy blankets and wraps. You were a little caterpillar tucked up in you cacoon of warmth.
I kept you fashion forward in a vast arrangement of outfits and matching beanies. You have been very excited to have you dad home everyday at the moment because it is school holidays. You jabber away to him and giggle at his silly faces.

Your mum and dad have gone camping every Easter since we first met. Normally we go to arapuni doc  ground but you Da and great grandma suggested we try here. It's on the halfway mark of the river bike trail and we have stopped here before to grab a cache or two. It's a beautiful and busy spot that we will definitely return too one day.

First night here your dad texted Da and grandma to tell them we had gone to the place they suggested and they said they were planning on going camping too and would come stay with us - "they will either turn up after lunch taking in the sights or leave at first light to get here ASAP to see Em, 10am at the latest!" Well your father was right!! 10.10am your great grandparents rolled in with their "accommodation" in tow.
We could not get a hold In after that- it was fantastic! Hehehe  you were the apple of their eye and that scored us an invite to a buffet style breakfast in their camper.  Home made bread, eggs, bacon, pancakes, whatever we desired!!
Your Da still has a sore stiff arm from his surgery but you could hardly tell the way he was carrying, lifting and playing with you all day. You even got to go up into the bed area and play peek a boo around the swivling TV- your father got a bit jealous as he hasn't ever gone up there or played peek a boo with his granddad around the TV... You have stolen his spot as favourite!!!! Enjoy the spotlight while you can miss muffet!

3 days of rain, wind, long drop toilets and no showers but we had a great time!
Home for a hot shower and sleep- well as much sleep as you will allow us which is only a little still at moment.
